Hi there, & welcome to the blog.
This is where I post a handful of images from each of my family/wedding type sessions, often with some image treatments applied because... well.. it's kinda fun! :)
You might notice that wherever possible I try and use natural or available light for my pictures, sometimes of course flash must be employed but I try to use it sparingly, and almost never from on top of the camera as it tends to just flatten out whatever I'm photographing.
I do love my work & count myself very fortunate to be able to make a living doing something that offers so many opportunities to work with people on very special occasions in a fun, creative, collaborative endeavor.
Please enjoy the pictures and call or email me if you would like to find out if I might be available to work on a special event for you.

Cheers

Swetha & Vinod... Engagement on 3 Chicago Blocks

This December Swetha & Vinod will be married in India in a crazy colorful festival of fun, embracing their families & friends back home. A couple of months before that they hung out for an afternoon with Gina & I taking some pictures and then invited us for tea at their apartment.
We started our pictures on their roof right on Michigan & Chicago.

I managed to get wet feet at the lake...again!

And off we went for a lovely cuppa tea, Beautiful! Thanks for a lovely session and all the very best for December.

Hima & Roshan... The Multi-Colored Dream Wedding

Just a couple of months ago we did their engagement pictures in the city center and a few days ago,on a sunny October weekend they were married. Gina and I were able to photograph some of the fun, color, excitement & emotion of their fabulous series of events.

Gina and I started our part of the weekend at the Pandya family home in Orland Park for her Grashanti (Roshan had his simultaneously at his parents home in Naperville)

That evening both families got together at the Waterford Banquets center for the Garba, which can be summarized as pictures, prayers appetizers and ALOT of dancing

On the day of the wedding we showed up bright and early, but the bride & groom were in hiding. Hima behind her hair...

...and Roshan behind wind blown silk.

Once Hima emerged however she was looking beautiful!

Roshan makes his arrival with his entourage.

And finally the bride makes her entrance.

Sunit, the brides brother, proudly displaying the grooms rather tattered wedding shoes, and they were so lovely!

Time for Roshan to take his bride off to her new life.

Part 2 - After a (very) brief lunch break Hima prepares for her reception, doesn't she look fabulous?

Roshan, after a rather longer break gets ready too. Guys have it so easy!

Moms & Dads

India house provided the amazing food - and I'm already looking forward to our next Indian wedding!

And THAT's what it looks like when everything comes together for a wonderful event.
Great facility, Awesome DJ, Utterly FABULOUS Food and of course a BEAUTIFUL BRIDE & HANDSOME GROOM, along with warm gracious and generally lovely family & friends - Perfect!

Julie & Matt, Nicky & Fandango.

Julie and Matt booked their 2012 wedding with us quite a while ago now and on Sunday we got to meet their pups when we stopped by their neighborhood for an engagement shoot.

Oz park was right across from their home and the puppies were very happy running around saying hi to old & new friends.

After half an hour or so it was time to let Nicky & Fandango rest while we walked down to Lincoln Park.

We got to the petting zoo just as it was closing but it seemed like a nice place to relax and get some pictures anyway.

Matts inner farmer started to make an appearance

This seems familiar...

One more shot on someones stoop.

A Very pretty afternoon in a lovely neighborhood. Looking forward to a wonderful wedding at 'A New Leaf' next summer.

Xiaonan & Ziyu, Chicago Engagement.

Xiaonan & Ziyu will be married in China next year, but while they are here how could they not take advantage of Fall in Chicago...

After a couple of quick shots by the Theater we walked down to the river, what a BEAUTIFUL Day!

Then we crossed over to the Plaza for a date with Marilyn.

How often are you going to have the chance to do this?

Right! Off we go again, this time to Grant Park for some action in the leaves - Woo Hoo!

What a great day to wander round Chicago taking pictures of a lovely happy couple

Melissa & Tony, an Award Winning Performance

Melissa contacted me after learning about my work from Erica, another of my brides who she worked with at the Chicago Shakespeare Theater. When we arrived at her home to start our day with her & Tony it was soon clear that we were getting ready for a fabulous show!
The first thing you need to know is that Melissa made her own dress.

She also had hair done by another professional from her team at the Theater

Hmmm...

We went to a little park in Rosemont to get some pictures in the fabulous Fall colors before the ceremony.

And we're off to church..

Both Mom's stood up for their children for the promises...Very Sweet!

Only people who actually ATTENDED the wedding are permitted to know the true meaning of the Asparagus..

And after some desert & some dancing comes.....
BOWLING! (of course)

... And that's a WRAP folks, Great SHOW, Great Party!

Veronika & Victor, by Pond and Lake.

So last Friday I got this phone call from a young woman inquiring about wedding packages and of course my first question to her was 'whats the date of your event?'... 'Tomorrow' she says..
Well to cut a very long story short I eventually spent a little over two hours with Veronika & Victor and enjoyed every minute in their company. - Here's some of what we got.

We met at the Lily Pond in Lincoln Park with their parents and Victors brother & girlfriend

Victor was clearly impressed with his bride, and quite frankly, who wouldn't be? - She was Gorgeous!

Veronika loved her dress, so much in fact that when they got to the airport in NY (on their way to Chicago) and realized they had left it in their apartment, they missed their flight to go back & get it. I think it was worth it don't you?

Have you ever wondered what your photo session might have looked like at another time of year? Thanks to photoshop you can find out!

After the Lily Pond we walked down to the lake for some twilight shots across to the city.

The it was back to the van and on to Navy Pier for the wedding on board The Mystic Blue.

Veronika's Dad Sasha walked her up the aisle and despite the 40 degree temperature and a brisk breeze she keeps her radiant smile all the way through the ceremony.

Victors Mom & Dad, happy he's found such a lovely young lady to marry.

One last picture of everyone before they go down & get warmed up.

Victor met Veronika at a club where he was DJ-ing and they made wedding favors for their guests using old record singles commemorating that moment.

One last trip into the cold to get a shot of them by their boat on the pier...

I left them there at the Mystic Blue and as I walked back to the entrance they headed back up the gangplank for their reception with their friends and family, and I hope to a wonderful loving happy future together.
Congratulations!

Alexis & Mike... Garden Party.

Alexis was just finishing up getting ready as Gina & I arrived at her family home at 10am on Saturday. The house was looking great too as many of the guests would be spending time there later after the ceremony while the bridal party was cruising up to the Botanical Gardens to get some pictures after the ceremony - It was a FABULOUS day!

After a short stop at Mikes family home to grab a couple of pictures of the boys having their first 'shot' of the day, we were off to St Paul at the Cross Church.

After a quick stop at the old Pickwick Movie Theater near the Church we were off to the Botanical Gardens in Glencoe, where Mike first proposed to Alexis.

After dispatching the bridal party and other friends back to the bus we wandered around the gorgeous grounds for another half an hour enjoying the scenery and making the most of photo opportunities around every corner.

Right! Time to go PARTY!

The reception room at the fabulous Airport Intercontinental Hotel was decorated and laid out beautifully.

Mike & Alexis had bottles of Absolute & Jamesons distributed at all the guest tables along with commemorative shot glasses. In this picture they are modelling the appropriate usage!

Their Sweet table was one of the most beautiful I've ever seen... and the most delicious!

Just a beautiful day wonderfully planned and put together with every detail just perfect.
Congratulations!

Kassie & Jimmy, Friday Wedding Fun!

A couple of years ago Jimmy's siter Joelle got married and I was the lucky photographer to document her nuptials.
Last Friday Jimmy and the gorgeous Kassie had their wedding and we all had a great day together followed by a fabulous party.
Kassie and her Mom getting K&J's handsome boy Nathan ready for his duties as ring bearer.
Jimmy looking sorta 'GQ' moody before the ceremony starts.

The reception was at Park Place in Crystal Lake

The party is ON!

Thanks so much for a GREAT time with fabulous people and all the very best for a wonderful future together.
